Biography
Lanie is originally from Boston, MA, and is a PhD student in the Applied Physics Graduate Program. She joined the Wittung-Stafshede group as a rotation student in November 2025. She received her B.S. from Tulane University in 2024, studying Biological Chemistry and Physics. While at Tulane, her undergraduate research focused on developing protocols and best practices for a novel small-scale dialysis technique, enabling real-time monitoring of biomolecular structure in changing solution conditions. She is interested in the fundamental biophysics behind amyloid-type aggregation, physical mechanisms of enzyme catalysis and allosteric regulation, and structure/function of intrinsically disordered proteins. When she’s not in the lab, you can find her at a concert, painting, or reading while drinking a cup of tea.
